Are Volunteering Love and
Global Orphanages the same company?
YES! The name of our registered
non-profit is Global Orphanages, but the name of our website and
volunteering company is Volunteering Love
which works under the
umbrella of Global Orphanages.
Who is eligible to apply for the volunteer program?
Anyone between the ages of 18-65 are
eligible to apply for this program. If you are under 18 you will
need permission from your parents. While there are no formal
qualifications needed to apply for the volunteer program, a humble
nature, respect for other cultures and beliefs along with a passion
to make a difference to those in need is greatly appreciated.

Do I need a visa to
travel to India?
Yes.
You will need a tourist visa to
travel to India. Volunteers are required to acquire Visas prior to
departure to India, There is no volunteer Visa so please get a
Tourist Visa. Volunteers can get Tourist Visas from the Indian
Embassy or Consulate Office in their home countries. If volunteers
plan to visit a neighboring country such as Nepal, later re-entering
India, a double/multiple entry Visa should be obtained.

In an effort to prevent international
abduction, many governments have initiated procedures at entry/exit
points. These procedures often include requiring documentary evidence
of relationship and permission for the child’s travel from the
absent parent(s) or legal guardian. Having such documentation on
hand, even if not required may better facilitate entry/departure.

Where are most of the
volunteers
from?
Currently
most of our volunteers are
from the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, and
other Scandinavian countries, European countries including, UK,
Norway, Belgium and Austria.

Are there any
restrictions on
volunteers?
You
must be eligible for a Tourist Visa
to India. Essentially you should be of good health and character
possessing no felony records to be granted a Tourist Visa to India.

What sort of
activities will I be
involved with on the project?
All our projects are mostly interaction
related with the children unless on the Medical Project and Drug
Rehabilitation Project. You could be teaching English, playing games,
education on hygiene, HIV/AIDS awareness, reading to the children,
and learning from the children themselves. The program you choose
will carry a more detailed description on your day to day activities.

Will there be time to
travel as
well?
Yes. As a volunteer you have the choice
to have your weekends free. This could mean traveling to local areas
with your project coordinator, shopping in the local markets,
meditation and yoga. Additionally Global Orphanages, Inc. offers a
Cultural Immersion program as well as the Famous Golden Triangle Trip
(Agra, Jaipur, Delhi).

When are the projects
available?
Projects
run year round. The summer months are the busiest, however, so please
book summer volunteering as soon as possible.

Do you provide airport
pick up upon arrival?
Yes. A
member of our staff will be waiting for you holding a sign with your
name. You will then be driven to your point of destination. It is
suggested to arrive in India during the day time hours.

program?

Is it possible to
extend my project?
Yes. In
order to extend your project an additional program fee is required.
Please contact our main office to make arrangements for this extension.
You will also need to file for a Visa Extension in India.

Why should I pay to
volunteer?
Our volunteer programs aid to enrich the
local people and communities in developing countries as well as offer
tourists a chance to learn from another culture. We work with local
NGOs, schools, and orphanages. Most of these local organizations are
resource poor and not n a position to offer room, food and other
logistic support needed for volunteers. Therefore, the fee is needed to
develop and promote programs, develop logistic support and make
arrangements for room and food for volunteers.

As Global Orphanages
is a US organization, do I need to be a US citizen to join a program?
We accept
volunteers from all over the world.

Do I need immunization
to travel to India?
Most of
our volunteers receive immunization, however, please consult with your
doctor.

Can I use my cell
phone in India?
Probably
not, unless you have an international cell phone. The best solution for
using a mobile phone in India is to purchase one once you arrive in the
country. They are inexpensive and can be used to make international
calls.

Can I use my
credit/debit card in India?
Yes. It
is suggested you contact your credit card company/bank informing them
you will be charging your account in that country.

Can I change the
dates/and or program that I chose initially?
Yes. However, there are additional fees
for any changes to dates and programs. Change fee: Subsequent changes
for any reason to your original criteria (such as dates, program
choice, location, etc.) on your application are subject to a “$99.00
U.S. dollar Change Fee.”

How far in advance
should I book my trip with Global Orphanages?
We
recommend that you book your trip with us as soon as possible to
guarantee desire placement. Global Orphanages requires that all trips
must be booked no later than sixty (60) days prior to the departure
date. Placements that are accepted by Global Orphanages less than sixty
(60) days prior to the departure date will incur a RUSH FEE of $75 U.S.
dollars.

should I book my ticket?
We
recommend that you book your airline flight as soon as possible to
insure a better rate.

in India?
The India
Rupee.

How can I change my
money?
You can change your money upon arrival
inside the Delhi International Airport. There are many banks inside the
Delhi International Airport as well as all over Delhi and nearby
